2025 SEA Games Rankings: Thailand Leads, Followed by Indonesia and Vietnam

Kabartangsel – As the 2025 SEA Games enter their final days, the competition at the top of the medal standings has narrowed significantly. Host nation Thailand is certain to emerge as the overall champion, boasting a dominance that has proven nearly impossible for other nations to overtake. According to the latest data, Thailand has amassed a total of 495 medals, consisting of 233 gold, 154 silver, and 108 bronze. This success reaffirms the prowess of the “Land of White Elephants” athletes in front of their home crowd.
Meanwhile, a proud achievement was carved out by the Indonesian contingent, which successfully locked in the runner-up position. Despite a brief back-and-forth chase with Vietnam, Indonesia eventually pulled ahead with 91 gold, 111 silver, and 131 bronze medals, totaling 333 medals. This achievement is considered to have exceeded expectations, given the fierce competition in measured sports categories previously dominated by other countries.
Vietnam, usually Indonesia’s toughest rival for a top-two finish, must settle for third place. The Vietnamese contingent collected 87 gold, 81 silver, and 110 bronze medals, totaling 278. Vietnam’s drop in rank was triggered by their failure to defend several gold medals in athletics and swimming, which were instead claimed by Indonesian and Malaysian athletes.
Competitive Mid-Table Standings
In the middle of the pack, Malaysia and Singapore are locked in a tight battle for a top-four finish. Malaysia currently holds a slight lead in fourth place with 57 gold medals, followed by Singapore in fifth with 52 gold medals. Although Singapore has fewer golds, they have shown high efficiency in swimming and sailing, while Malaysia garnered many medals from badminton and cycling.
The Philippines trails in sixth place with 50 gold medals. Interestingly, despite being in sixth, the Philippines has a substantial total medal count of 276, dominated by 153 bronze medals. This indicates that Filipino athletes are highly competitive across many events but often fall short of converting opportunities into gold in the final rounds.
At the bottom of the standings, Myanmar leads the lower group in seventh place with 3 gold medals, followed by Laos in eighth with 2 golds, and Brunei Darussalam in ninth with 1 gold medal. Meanwhile, Timor-Leste is still struggling to secure its first gold, currently holding 1 silver and 7 bronze medals, placing them at the bottom in 10th.
Indonesia Surpasses Targets
Indonesia’s climb to second place serves as a positive signal for the development of national sports, especially in preparation for larger international events. The effectiveness of athlete development in several new sporting disciplines has begun to show results this year. With only a few final events remaining, Indonesia’s position in second place is expected to remain unchallenged by Vietnam.
As the largest sporting event in Southeast Asia enters its final phase, the host’s position remains unshakable. In the latest 2025 SEA Games standings, Thailand stands as a dominant force, leaving its competitors behind with a lead of over 100 gold medals over the second-ranked nation.
