South Tangerang Mayor Gives Red Light to New Years Convoys

konvoi_tahun_baruSouth Tangerang mayor Airin Rachmi Diany has ordered her populace not to hold vehicle convoys as part of the New Year’s celebrations.

“We are banning residents from celebrating New Year’s Eve with vehicle convoys. It is such a waste,” Airin said on Wednesday, after a coordination meeting prior to the year-end celebration.

Convoys at New Year create traffic jams and lead to fatal accidents.

“I have asked the police and the military to monitor the city’s main roads and to take disciplinary measures against those who disregard the convoy restriction,” Airin added. (thejakartapos)
